Q: Which capsules can be used in the K-fee® Espresto machines?
A: ONLY K-fee® System capsules can be used. Look for the red K-fee® System logo – your guarantee of European quality. The use of any other capsules will damage the machine and immediately render your warranty void.

Q: Are K-fee® Espresto capsules suitable for Vegetarians?
A: YES. All products are suitable for vegetarians. Flavours containing milk (Crema Latte, Chocolatte and Chai Latte) may not be suitable for vegans.
Q: What is in the milk capsules?
A: We take fresh, natural milk from the dairy and extract the water using an innovative, gentle process to produce a very fine milk powder. When combined with water under high 19-bar pressure, the powder becomes liquid once again – creamy, sweet, frothy milk that is perfect for your own ESPRESTO Caffè Latte.
Q: Is ESPRESTO going to offer additional capsules in future?
A: Yes. We will continue to innovate with the ESPRESTO System by offering more of the beverages you know and love.
Q: Can I use other K-fee® capsules in my ESPRESTO system?
A: Yes. You can use other K-fee® capsules in the ESPRESTO system.
Q: Can capsules be recycled?
A: Yes. Unlike other brands, K-fee® Espresto capsules are produced with recyclable plastics.
RECYCLE AS FOLLOWS:
Chocolatte, Chai Latte, Crema Latte(milk): simply discard CAPSULES in your “plastic” bin for recycling, as all the contents would have dissolved in the brewing process.
- Coffee and Rooibos Tea: Remove the thin plastic top that seals the capsule, discard the contents in the “general/others” bin. The empty capsule can then be discarded in the “Plastics” recycling bin.
Remember that used coffee grounds are very good for your garden and keeping garden pests away.
Q: How long does the products remain fresh in the capsules?
A: The ingredients are freshly packed into the ESPRESTO capsule and air-tightly sealed. Please refer to the “best before” date indicated on each capsule.
Q: How should I store the capsules?
A: ESPRESTO capsules, including the milk capsules, should be stored in a dry area at room temperature.
Q: Is the drink dispensing process delayed?
A: The machine is heating up or the machine will re-adjust the temperature for the requested drink – the dispensing button will flash during this heating process.
Q: Drinks are not hot enough?
A: The heating element could be calcified. Descale the machine in accordance with the machine instructions. If the problem continues to occur, please contact our service centre.
Q: Drinks not being prepared properly?
A: Check to ensure that the lever has been pressed down completely.
If the water runs out during drink preparation, interrupt the dispensing by pressing any button. Open and close the lever to eject the capsule, remove the water tank, refill it with fresh water and insert it in the machine again. Re-fill the system by pressing any button (still with no capsule inserted) until water flows out of the spout.
If, despite this, the error occurs again you should clean the machine and descale it (refer to the machine user manual for instructions).
Q: Dispensing volume is insufficient?
A: Please check that the dispensing volumes of the buttons have been programmed. If required, re-programme your required dispensing volumes by following the instructions in the user manual.
If this does not solve the problem, the system could be calcified. Descale the machine in accordance with the instructions. If the problem persists, please contact our service centre.
CREATING THE BEST BEVERAGES
Q: Can I stop making a drink mid-way through the process?
A: You can press any button to stop your machine mid-way through the process. However, for the best tasting beverages, we recommend that you follow the instructions in the user manual and the preparation guidelines on the side of each capsule pack.
Q: Can I then press the button to continue making my drink?
A: Each time you press the button, the machine will start the new, full cycle for the selected beverage.
Q: What happens if I make the espresso first and then the milk for my cappuccino or latte?
A: You will still get the same high-quality ESPRESTO Cappuccino or Latte, however, we recommend making the milk first and extracting the espresso shot second. This method will ensure there is no residual dairy in the machine after making the beverage, thus ensuring the best machine performance over time. Always remember to release the last capsule used and rinse the machine after use.
Q: Does fresh or filtered water make a difference?
A: Yes, we highly recommend filtered water for the best tasting beverages.
Q: Why does it seem hard to close the lever after inserting?
A: You will feel some pressure or tension as you close the lever – this is normal. The pressure indicates that the machine is puncturing the capsule in preparation to extract. Be sure to close the lever quickly with one swift, continuous motion. Avoid any back and forth movement of the lever or hesitation when closing it, as this can cause the capsule to fall straight into the used capsule container without being punctured.
Q: What can be done if the lever cannot be closed completely after a capsule has been inserted?
A: First, ensure the used capsule container has not been overfilled. Once the used capsule container has been emptied, ensure that the capsule is in the correct position before attempting to close the lever again. Remember to empty the used capsule container frequently.
Q: What is the purpose of automatic switch-off?
A: If the machine is not being used, it switches off automatically after 5 minutes. This reduces the energy consumption of your K-fee® – your system capsule machine. The machine consumes considerably less power (<0.5 W) than it does in operating mode. During periods of absence and at the end of the brewing day, switch the machine off at power supply (240 V plug).
Q: Why are all buttons flashing rapidly?
A: The machine could be overheated or have a fault. Switch the machine off and remove the plug from the mains supply and allow the machine to cool down. After this, reinsert the mains plug again and switch the machine on. If the problem persists, please contact our service centre.
Q: The machine is not dispensing the beverage?
A: The water tank could have run out of water and the system could be out of water. Open and close the lever to eject the capsule, remove the water tank, refill it with fresh water and insert it in the machine again. Re-fill the system by pressing any button (still with no capsule inserted) until water flows out of the spout.
Q: Why is there excess liquid in the drip tray after making a beverage?
A: There will be residual liquid from used capsules in the used capsule container, which causes excess liquid to collect in the lower drip tray.
Q: Why is water being dispensed instead of the beverage I selected?
A: The capsule that you inserted may have dropped through the machine into the used capsule container without being punctured. Lift the machine’s lever all the way back so it is at a 90-degree angle to the machine. Take that same capsule from the discard bin and re-insert it. Close the lever quickly and with one swift, continuous motion. You will feel some pressure or tension as you close the lever – this is normal. The pressure indicates that the machine is puncturing the capsule in preparation to extract. Avoid back and forth movement of the lever or hesitation when closing it.
Q: Why can’t I get the used capsule container out?
A: This could be because your used capsule container is full. Try moving the drip tray from side the side to loosen the bin. Remember to empty the used capsule container frequently.
Q: I cannot fit my mug in below the nozzle – How can I adjust this?
A: The machine has a height-adjustable drip tray. The tray contains an upper drip tray where you can place small cups closer to the nozzle. In order to accommodate larger cups, you can remove the upper drip tray – see User Manual for instructions.
Q: Where is serial number located?
A: The serial number is located underneath the machine, on a white tag.

CLEANING AND RINSING
Q: How do I clean and/or descale my machine? How often do I need to do this?
A: Cleaning: We recommend that you clean your machine two weeks. Please follow the instructions in the User Manual when cleaning your machine.
Descaling: We recommend that you descale your machine once every 2-3months, depending on the level of water hardness in your area. Please follow the instructions in the User Manual when descaling your machine.
Q: Do I have to descale the machine if I am using the water filter?
A: The use of a water filter increases the descaling intervals considerably, but it cannot completely replace them. It is possible that mineral deposits can occur depending on your regional water hardness level. If using a water filter, we recommend descaling the machine annually or more frequently depending on water hardness in your local area.
Q: Do you have to rinse the machine every time you turn it on?
A: Yes, the machine will prompt you to rinse it every time it is turned on. Rinsing ensures that any old beverage residue is rinsed out and fills the system with fresh water ensuring the highest-quality, best-tasting beverages.
Q: How often do I have to rinse the machine?
A: Every time you start the machine it will prompt you to rinse. We also recommend rinsing at the end of use for the day and especially after preparing milk-based drinks.
Q: How often do I have to clean the drip tray and used capsule container? Are they dishwasher safe?
A: We recommend that the drip tray and used capsule container should be cleaned daily, when in use. Use a moist cloth and, if necessary, a mild detergent. Do not wash any parts of the machine in the dishwasher.
